Where to find the FOMC schedule
The source of truth is the calendar on the Fed's official website. Meeting dates are announced at the start of the year. In 2026 the run opens with the January 27–28 meeting and closes December 8–9. As of now, the nearest meeting is September 15–16.
There are domestic routes as well. Bank of Korea materials and the economic calendar inside brokerage apps show the same dates in Korean time. Read only the US date and you can easily be a day off.
The announcements cluster on the final day. The statement comes first, then the dot plot in meetings where one is released, and the chair's press conference last. In Korean time, all of it lands before dawn.
Why one line of the statement moves markets
Markets don't watch the rate number alone. Change a single word and reactions split.
Attention right now tilts toward a hike. With August CPI and PPI above expectations, the odds of a 25bp increase in September have risen to 85–90%. The US 10-year yield sits at 4.99%, testing the 5% line.
Higher rates strengthen the dollar and weigh on risk assets. A hold or a cut points the other way. Yet same-day moves come less from the direction itself than from how far it differed from expectations.
What KOSPI, the won and Bitcoin are watching
KOSPI is already pinned down by macro. It slid to 6,909.91 and gave up the 7,000 line, with foreign and institutional investors net selling around 3.5 trillion won together. With oil above $100 and long-term yields climbing, even strong semiconductor exports aren't gaining traction. Background is in our piece on the KOSPI 7,000 break.
The dollar-won exchange rate is in the 1,345 range. A sustained dollar rally adds pressure on the won.
Bitcoin is searching for direction at $77,210. US spot ETFs shed about $449.5 million across three straight sessions. Ethereum ETFs drew in roughly $216.41 million, so the two coins are running at different temperatures. Live moves are on Bitcoin price and AI score.
The same week overlaps with central bank decisions in the UK and Japan. That window is September 14–18.
What to prepare before the early-hours release
The first thing experts watch is the size of their exposure. In the minutes right before a release, order books thin out.
The second is not taking the first move at face value. Direction flips between the statement and the press conference more often than people expect.
Three indicators narrow it down: the 10-year yield, the dollar index, and the dollar-won rate. When all three move the same way, swings in KOSPI and Bitcoin have tended to widen alongside them.
Minutes appear much later. They serve as a way to check afterward why the day's reaction happened. If you want the broad market's indicators on one screen, the Daepak dashboard is one place to look.
